In May 2013, FAST launched a 24-hour FDW Helpline 1800-339-4357 to provide tele-assistance for distressed FDWs or FDWs that needs advise. On average, FAST receives about 150 calls a month. Most of the enquiries pertain to contractual issues like eligibility for off-days, salaries, requests for transfers, loneliness, home leave and such. There were also distress calls which are expeditiously referred to the relevant authorities to take immediate action.

It is interesting to note that many calls are from FDWs who just need someone to talk with. FAST also receives calls from FDWs of all nationalities and work together with a dedicated team of volunteers to speak with FDWs in their mother tongue.

FAST is also committed to helping deserving FDWs in need. In December, we assisted in recovering the salary of one Indonesian FDW after her employer went bankrupt. FAST also provides tele-financial counselling to FDWs that are struggling with money lending issues.
